Doing it right.

You know when those moments happen, and you just know you are the luckiest person in the world because you absolutely found the perfect person to be your partner in life?

I mean when you choose to have someone as your husband/wife/partner you of course are selecting that person because you love them more than anything and want them to be in your life forever.  This is it, I LOVE this individual and want to settle down with them and have children with them and experience the rest of my life with them by my side.

But every once in a while that person will do something that makes you just stop in your tracks and think "Wow.  Just Wow.  I picked the perfect person.  I really did.  How did I manage to get so lucky?!" #rockingoutthislifepartnerthing

Yeah. So that happened to me this morning.  Oh, the tricks the Gods so often play: Our little part of NC managed to avoid most of the severe weather associated with Sandy, but WE still came home to no heat.  Go figure.  Too late to call anyone to come fix it, we hunkered down in front of the gas logs for the night.

My husband usually leaves for work a few minutes ahead of me so as I came downstairs to grab my keys and head out the door I noticed that my couches were covered in comforters from the guest bed and my dog's bed had been moved from its normal spot next to our bed to the floor of the living room.

Cue my big old heart melting.

He had been so concerned that our Beagle would get cold with no heat he went out of his way to make sure she had plenty of supplies to keep warm.

Sometimes I just get it right.  Obviously i did when I chose him.  Audrey agrees.

"Thanks for thinking of me Dad, I'm nice and toasty!"

That generic my cat is in a box post

Haha.  I know this is one of the most common "awww cute" sights for cat owners and cat lovers.  But damnit, my turn! Luna loves the box that my fantastic Halloween Popcorn Factory Halloween bucket (Thanks Mama Judy!) came in.

Colored Wedding Gowns Done Right

Jessica Biel (now Timberlake) certainly didn't start the trend but she has brought colored wedding gowns to the forefront of the fashion world with her soft pink Giambattista Valli gown. Pink seems to be the most popular choice for off hue wedding wear but certainly the options span a large spectrum (literally.)  Below are a few examples of where i think colored wedding gowns are done right.

What do you think of the oh so popular colored wedding gown?  Would you dare to wear?

It's t-shirt time!

I'm all over the trend of pairing a fun graphic t with a skirt.  You can go glam with sequins and sparkle or boho with flowy length.  Either way is unexpected and a great way to add a little excitement to your wardrobe.

Chambray

I can't find the right Chambray shirt!  I am just going to have to bow down to the J Crew Gods and pay that much for it.  I was really hoping i could find a cheaper version but I am struggling.

A big shout out to my friend Lindsay over at Lipstick & Lollies for trying to give me a hand.  Good, helpful friends is one of the main reasons I blog!

I just want to look like this, is that so hard!?

Lately

We have alot of nothing much going on around here lately, and I think it's
fantastic.

I found myself sitting down this weekend and realizing it felt a bit foreign to me.  Nowhere to be, nothing that had to be done, no one to go see.  I have not found myself in this situation for a very long time.  I don't think I realized until I stopped that I have been moving so much this year (maybe I was too busy to notice).
It has been an emotional year for me with the highest of highs (marriage) and the lowest of lows (unexpected loss of a young loved one.) Perspective didn’t set in, it showed up and caused my life to skid to a sudden halt.  Slow down now it said. Not a request but a demand.
I'm trying to heed that warning.  Tommorrow is never guaranteed.  Stop and smell the roses, or more seasonally appropriate, the pumpkin spice.
I have decided to follow the lead of my pets. I will look out the window at the beauty that is outside and i will lay down and feel the warmth of the sun on me.  Hug the ones you love, especially your children.  They are a precious gift.
Slow down and enjoy the simple things in life.  Eat that homeade strawberry shortcake slowly and savor every bite.

Liebster

This is a big deal to me.
It is my first blog award and I LOVE it.
I want to kiss it and hug it and let it snuggle with me and my Beagle (after she has had a bath.)

Jen over at Filling up my cup nominated me and now I love her.  And I want to hug her and kiss her and let her snuggle with me and my Beagle (once again this is much better after she has had a bath.)

Go check out Filling up my cup for me please! You will not regret it! Have I mentioned I love her?

This is an award for blogs with 200 or less followers. It's a way to say "keep up the great work" to each other! When you are nominated you post 10 random facts about yourself and answer 10 questions from the person who nominated you. Then pass the award onto 10 other bloggers you think deserve it.

Here are the questions Jen asked me:

1.  If you were forced to cheat on your significant other with a celebrity, who would you choose?

Tom Hardy. Hands down.  I love this man.  Only if I was FORCED though.  I mean forcibly forced of course!

2.  If you knew your next meal was going to be your last, what would you order?

Taco's and brownies.

3.  What is your current favorite song?

I'm still loving "Mean" by Taylor Swift even though its pretty old.

4.  What was your favorite song in high school?

Technically it was middle school, but Shoop by Salt N Peppa. I knew every single word (still do)

5.  Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip?

As a New Yorker who moved to the South in High School i feel obliged to break this question down a bit more.  It only seems right to re-word it as follows: Duke, Hellmans, or Miracle Whip?  Because in the South if you say mayonnaise you are getting Dukes.  But as a native New Yorker Dukes just doesnt cut it.  Hellman's is the only way to go. Hellman's all the way, all day.  Miracle whip?  Only in coleslaw.

6.   How often do you change your sheets?

I strive for once a week.  I'll be honest, doesn't always happen.

7.  What's your favorite brand of shampoo?

I have issues spending alot of money on shampoo, so I usually just pick up cheap old Suave.  Then I lie to my hairdresser when she asks.

8.   Is the first person you kissed still in your life?

Sad Story - First kiss was on my elementary school playground with a sweet boy named Ryan.  Unfortunately years later he lost his life in a car accident driving from a ski resort.

9.  What's the biggest misperception people have about you?

I have what they call "bitch face". I don't always look like the nicest person, but once you get to know me you realize I am (sometimes :) )

10.  Describe your biggest "foot in your mouth" moment.

I passed Ron Francis in the hallway at the rink (legendary retired Carolina Hurricanes player and now coach of the Hurricanes power play) and promptly told him that I thought his power play sucked.  At the time we had just lost the game, i can be a sore loser and to be honest his power play DID suck! Probably too many Blue Moons that night.

Now its time for me to nominate ten NEW Liebster Blogs!
I worked hard to pick out ten blogs I really enjoy that are under 200 followers and let me tell you I had to cut a lot of blogs to narrow it to ten.  I wish I could have listed more!

Congratulations fellow bloggers!  I hope this Liebster I pass on makes you feel as good as mine made me feel!

Here are your ten questions:

1.     Would you rather see a movie at the theater or at home on DVD?
2.     Which movie make you cry?
3.     Name one book you had to read but hated.
4.     Which is the best vacation you've ever had?
5.     If you could have a luncheon with any three people (real or fictitious/from any time   period/dead or alive), which three people would you choose?
6.     If given complete freedom to start afresh, what profession would you choose?
7.     Bath or shower?
8.     Last thing you bought?
9.     Did you watch Trading Spaces?
10.   What do you do when you are sad to make yourself happy again?

BooBee's!

What did the ghost say to the bee? BOO BEE!

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.  Every 2 minutes, there is a new breast cancer diagnosis.  These are the facts.

But here is another FACT:

When breast cancer has not spread from the the breast the five year survival rate is close to 100%

Mammograms can detect MOST early stages of breast cancer.

Self-exams are the number one way to detect possible signs of breast cancer.

DO SELF EXAMS. The breast is a beautiful thing (just ask your husband/boyfriend/guy standing next to you right now.) They are soft, they are supple.  FEEL THOSE BABIES UP! DO IT! It may save your live.

Here is what to look for:

1.  Changes in the look or feel of the breast including lumps
2.  Changes in the look or feel of the nipple
3.  Nipple discharge

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and so many great companies donate proceeds from their sales to research, there are just too many to list.  This fact alone makes me love our nation and proud of humanity.  We have each others backs (and boobies).  I have listed below a few fashion worthy options if you want to help donate to the fight.

The Tale of Two Purses

I have spent 30 minutes trying to write a witty blog post to explain how I bought two purses this weekend but the backspace key keeps rolling over the words, erasing them forever.  As soon as i think I am on to something my mind quickly disagrees and the flashing curser starts to move in reverse. Beep Beep Beep like a truck backing up crushing my failed creativity.

I have nothing my dear friends.  I even tried to write a poem but I couldn't find a good word to rhyme with "purses".

But I have to share.  So forgive the lack of imagination.

I bought TWO purses this weekend. Both at FANTASTIC prices. I mean prices so good that combined they still cost a good deal less than most purses I covet. And I just had to show you! Because i know so many of you are familiar with that feeling you get when you GET.A.DEAL.

Fashioning Fall Decor

1. Does this fall wreath not look perfect on my mantle? I figure since i am hosting Thanksgiving I should get dibs.  Mom and her office door at work did not agree. Bah Harvest Humbub Ma!
2.  Luna even helped! That is if we change the definition of help from:

help  (hlp)
v. helped, help·ing, helps
v.tr.
1. To give assistance to; aid: I helped her find the book. He helped me into my coat.
2. To contribute to the furtherance of; promote
to

help  (hlp)
v. helped, help·ing, helps
v.tr.
1. To swat at leaves; hit: I used my paws to swat at the leaves so my
Grandma had trouble attaching them to the grapevine wreath.
3. Seriously my Mom nailed it with these wreaths.  Not only is leopard print a neutral in fashion now, its a neutral in Fall Decor.  It's basically the same as the little black dress.

P.S.  This is my 100th post! How awesome would it be to hit 100 followers soon!?
