New House Update

I am having the hardest time getting unpacked in my new house.  I had no idea that the process was going to be so slow going; much more so than any moves i have had in the past.  I'm sure its because there is so much more space in my house than there was in any of my apartments, but its still frustrating.  Im pretty sure i will be one of those people who is unpacking boxes months later.

I also realized that i have nowhere near enough "stuff" to use to decorate my space.  While decorating is fun and exciting it is also expensive and slow going.  Bobby says thats a good thing because it will keep us busy for years to come.  Hahahaha...

So we went to Target yesterday armed with a giftcard and a mission to get our kitchen decorating started.  I found these mugs below and instantly fell in love.  I took them home and decided to hang them in shadow boxes as wall art and im really happy with the outcome.  I know they are not traditional but they are fun and that holds more weight in my mind.

Here is a close up:

So im thinking of going with black and white as my main colors so as not to make the kitchen too busy.  The pop art animals on the mugs add ALOT of interest and color so I dont want to overwhelm the space with much color anywhere else.  I found these black and white graphic towels and rug at Target and almost bought them for the space but just couldnt decide if it was too busy.

I'm thinking the bold black and white graphics will go well with the pop art...but I'm still thinking on it.

Also here is a look of the foyer so far.  The pictures are some of my favorite poems from Shel Silverstein's book "Where The Sidewalk Ends."  I did a little DIY project and removed the pages from the book and then put them in black frames to use as art. They are one of my favorite things.

More to come later :)

  1. Love the mug art, so cute and unique! I'm with ya on the unpacking, we moved back in July and I still have a couple of boxes to unpack that I just don't know what to do with.
