Making fashion week work for you

Photobucket

Let's face it girls, not only can most of us not afford the clothes we drool over at NY fashion week but we also usually are scratching our heads wondering "is that look maybe a little bit out there for everyday wear?"  The runway is a magical place where imagination and creativity have the freedom to run loose; its a fabulous place, don't get me wrong, but if you want to translate it to your 9-5 or date night you learn to pick up on the trends and make them work for YOU.

I thought it would be fun to show how I try to do this when the newest season's looks are released.  One of the most prominent presences i have seen this weekend is white on white on white.  Here are a few of my favorites:

BCBG Max Azaria

Nina Skarra

To me not only do I see white on white but I see that the pants are slim and not ground skimming, blazers are highlighted and lots of geometric cut-outs are used to add interest.  Below i have created an outfit based on these ideas that I could see myself using in my daily life:

My Look
Chadwick Bell

Jill Stuart

The dresses are very basic and let the texture do the talking.  These white ensembles are classic silhouettes adding drama with accents such as lace, cut outs and stripes.  Here is how I plan on doing it:

How do you see yourself make fashion week work for you?
